01 The rules
Permit fact card
- Permit
- Required: Special Use Permit (Glen Canyon NRA) — weddings and other large group gatherings
- Other fees
- The page says 'certain fees and insurance requirements may apply' and that the NPS charges location and cost-recovery fees including application fees, without giving amounts. Parking is paid separately to the City of Page.
- Entrance & parking
- Parking lot (City of Page land): $10 passenger vehicle (car, truck or RV), $5 motorcycle, $35 van/bus to 14 seats, $70 bus 15–35 seats, $140 bus over 35. America the Beautiful and NPS passes do not apply.
- Lead time
- Applications must be submitted 45 business days (excluding weekends and holidays) before the event
- Caps & rules
- All applications are reviewed case by case; permits are for specific times and places. The walk to the overlook is 1.5 miles round trip over a hardened path with very little shade. Drones are prohibited. No bikes, skateboards or motorized vehicles on the trail.
- Photographer
- A separate filming/photography permit is not required for photography associated with a permitted event such as a wedding. Without a wedding permit, photography with 8 or fewer people, hand-carried gear and no exclusive use needs no permit.
02 Re-check log
Compared with our June 2026 guides
45-business-day lead time and $10 / $5 parking confirmed. New today: bus/van parking prices. The NPS page lists weddings among SUP examples but names no fee and does not say that Horseshoe Bend itself is an approved ceremony site.
