Lowell Observatory
About
Getting married where Pluto was discovered is the draw here — Lowell Observatory, the National Historic Landmark on Mars Hill above downtown Flagstaff, rents its grounds and telescope domes for ceremonies ranging from two-person proposals to 150-guest receptions. Small weddings have several published price points: the Mausoleum Courtyard at $800, a gazebo with a sweeping view of downtown Flagstaff at $950 (described as best suited to small, intimate ceremonies), and the historic Clark Telescope Dome at $1,600. Larger formats scale through the Rooftop Terrace ($2,000–$3,500), Under the Stars ($2,000–$4,000), the Great Planetary Hall ($4,500–$7,500), and a VIP wedding at $17,500 that includes observatory admission for up to 100 guests, Dark Sky Planetarium access, catering kitchen, DJ and bartending services, on-site lodging, and astrophotography. Elopement options are offered across the Clark Telescope Dome, Dyer Telescope & Courtyard, and Under the Stars formats. Ceremonies unfold among the ponderosa pines under Flagstaff's famously dark skies — the city is a certified dark-sky community — giving evening weddings a stargazing element few venues anywhere can match. The events office handles booking by phone and email.
